Thank you DPW!

On behalf of all bicyclists who have to use this bridge to connect to work, school, entertainment, and shopping, thank you DPW for responding to Bike Pittsburgh's request, and sweeping the shoulders of the Birmingham Bridge two weeks in a row! This is absolutely awesome!

So what do we need to do to get someone in the DPW to start cleaning up (regularly) all the glass on the West End Bridge sidewalks. It's a mine field out there!

Well, that's a different division than the one that sweeps the Birmingham Bridge. I would start by clicking on the link in the post and writing/calling them to request DPW sweep the shoulders of the West End Bridge. Make sure to thank them for their recent efforts on the Birmingham Bridge. Bike Pittsburgh will follow-up as well. Thanks for the comment!

I've been a long-time lurker on your blog and have enjoyed reading it. Look forward to seeing more.

Anyways I'd love to see Oakland become more bike friendly. Ever bike down 5th Ave? It's pretty nerve racking.

How about a bike lane on Forbes from Oakland to Squirrel Hill to Frick Park/Regent Square? Again, biking Forbes during rush hour requires nerves of steel.

We would love to see lanes on Fifth anf Forbes in Oakland, but with the parking and the 30,000 vehicles that use that corridor every day it's going to be a hard sell. We're definitely working up to that, but let's try to get some of the low hanging fruit first (Liberty Ave in Bloomfield, Beacon and Wightman in Sq. Hill, and Dallas from Homewood/Point Breeze to Sq. Hill).
